Apple Butter

🌿 Hello, lovely bakers and welcome back to my kitchen!

Today we’re making apple butter ✨

✨I received an influx of apples over the summer, very kindly, from people who have had a glut from their allotments, and although we made lots of crumbles, pies and frangipanes and handed them out to the community, we had so many that we ended up making this yummy apple butter.

🍏This is such a lovely, cosy and autumnal recipe that you can enjoy in porridge, on toast or in yoghurt, too!

🎵 So let’s get our playlists on and get started!

🍏 Ingredients

  • 12 apples

  • 200g light brown sugar

  • 1tsp Ceylon cinnamon

  • 1tsp vanilla bean paste

  • pinch of salt

👩‍🍳 Let’s Cook!

  1. The first thing you need to do is core your apples. This is made much easier by using an apple corer, otherwise chop the apple into quarters, then cut out the core from there and pop it in your compost bin!

  2. Chop your apples into squares, then add them all to a pan with the rest of the ingredients. I like to add 30g of water, just to prevent the sugar from catching on the bottom of the pan, stir the ingredients together, then add the lid to your pan and cook on a medium heat for 4-5 hours.

  3. Once the apples are cool, use an immersion blender to blitz the mixtur together.

  4. Add into sterilised jars and keep it in the fridge for up to two weeks!
